I have seen the spring pass away.

I have seen the spring pass away.

I have stood under the trees-
I have heard the leaves whisper to the wind
Little green, yellow and orange secrets.
I have felt the branches wither in pain-
Pregnant with buds.
I have seen the spring being born.

I have seen the trees grow heavy.
I have seen the green turn into a bright
Crimson, red and orange.
I have seen the summer-
Dance naked in the fields,
Play in water with mermaids.
I have seen the spring grow young.

I have touched the labor of the spring.
I have dug my teeth into the love that spring bore for me-
I have felt the spring caress my soul-
Sit lightly upon my lap
Put its hand around my neck-
I have felt the spring kiss my lips.
I have been the spring's lover.

I have heard the spring thump its feet
On the earth's chest-
I have seen it dance with the peacocks,
Fly around with little fairies under the mushrooms-
I have heard its giggles dissolve in water-
I have seen the spring dive and
Come out with wet hair-

I have seen spring pass away
Into the clouds.
